How Much Does Window Tinting Cost in Australia?
Car window tinting is usually priced per vehicle, and the film you choose is the biggest factor. Basic dyed film for a sedan typically starts around $150 to $300, carbon film runs closer to $250 to $450, and premium ceramic film — which rejects the most heat and UV — generally sits between $350 and $700, with larger 4WDs and vans costing more because they have more glass.
Home and office tinting is normally quoted per window or per square metre. Standard solar and heat-control film commonly runs around $45 to $95 per average window supplied and fitted, while premium ceramic, frosted privacy and safety or security films cost more. Most installers also apply a minimum job charge, so a couple of windows can work out more per window than a whole-house job.
How dark you can legally go on a car depends on your state or territory, so the tint percentage (VLT) is a legal question as well as a comfort one.
